About The Plumbing Guru

I have worked in the drainage repair and maintenance business for many years, working on projects from small domestic issues to massive commercial projects. The thing that I have found most startling about my line of work is how little people know about actually looking after their drainage systems!

So many of the issues we are called out to fix could have been avoided in the first place either through due diligence or routine maintenance. This can end up costing a huge amount of money over the years, and you could even have hugely disruptive excavation repairs when the issue is really critical.

I have set up a blog to provide a source of information on drainage maintenance for those who are looking for it so that you can avoid problems before they have even started. Using my years of direct industry experience, I can provide real actionable insights on how to keep your sewage waters running freely – and in the right direction!

My Background

I have worked in the drainage system industry for over twenty years. Throughout my career I have repaired pipes in all states from minor cracks to full collapse, have carried out countless maintenance processes, have installed hundreds of new systems, and now own my own company.

During my time in the industry, while the systems have remained largely the same (regardless, we regularly work on systems that are 60-70 years old!), the technology we employ has changed drastically. The need for disruptive excavation has been significantly reduced through things like CCTV and water jetting has become tremendously effective to the point that most of the time it is the only thing we use!

Throughout this time the same preventable problems keep cropping up. There is no shortage of jobs to do in my line of work, and I would much rather see people save their money than call us in for unnecessary or easily fixable jobs. As such, I would like to share my (depressingly!) extensive knowledge of drainage systems with anyone who will read it.

I can’t imagine anyone will read this with excitement and follow it from week to week, but at the very least when you find that you do need to know something about drainage, there will be an authoritative and professional source on the internet!

What This Blog Will Cover

This website will cover absolutely anything that I think will help you to maintain a fully operational drainage system. This means that we might have to cover a lot of ground, discussing topics such as:

  • How to prevent problems arising.
  • How to go about repairing problems.
  • Some insight into how the drainage industry works.

With this combination you should be able to prevent issues and malfunctions arising, it will help you to go about repairing some simple issues to avoid expensive callout and labour fees and will put you in a fantastic position for arranging professionals if you do suffer a critical drainage system failure.
